Davao City Getting Ready for KADAYAWAN 2011

King of Festivals

Kadayawan Festival is an annual event in the City of Davao. It is celebrated every 3rd week of the August. Kadayawan is derived from the word dayaw, which means good, beautiful, valuable and superior.

The city is again expected to be flocked by domestic and foreign tourists with the hotels and inns fully booked. I am pretty much excited with the events of the festival.

To help us prepare what’s going to happen, here’s the 2011 Kadayawan sa Davao Schedule of Activities (as of July 18, 2011):

August 1 – 31, SM City Davao: Agro-Industrial Trade Fair and Exhibit
August 15, People’s Park: Kadayawan Festival 2011 Opening Ceremonies
August 15 – 20: Lumadnong Gama (Lumad Indigenous Crafts Fair)
August 15 – 22, Roxas Avenue: Hudyakaan
August 15 – 18, Abreeza Mall Activity Center: Hiyas sa Kadayawan (Talent Portion)
August 16 – 18, SM City Davao: Sayaw Mindanaw
August 17, Davao City Recreational Center: Hiyas sa Kadayawan Finals
August 20, Abreeza Mall Activity Center: Tunog Mindanaw

I’ve been in Mindanao but only in Ozamis and Iligan. Never been to Davao yet. Looking forward to get there next year.

Wow, so you will be coming here next year. When would that be? Actually Davao City has 4 seasons festival. 1st quarter is the Chinese New Year and Araw ng Dabaw, 2nd quarter is the Summer Fest, 3rd quarter is the Kadayawan sa Dabaw, and 4th quarter is the Paskuhan sa Dabaw. 🙂
